Gloria Chappell, LMSW, is a trauma-informed, strengths-based mental health therapist who is passionate about helping clients of all ages navigate life’s challenges with confidence and resilience. She uses a person-centered, integrative approach that is rooted in person-in-environment theory, recognizing that people are shaped by their experiences, relationships, and environments. Gloria believes in the power of the therapeutic relationship and creates a warm, accepting space where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to grow.

She holds a Master of Social Work degree from Abilene Christian University and is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Her experience includes supporting individuals through anxiety, depression, ADHD, life transitions, stress, grief, and trauma. She is also culturally affirming, LGBTQ+ friendly, Military informed, and offers counseling through a faith-based lens when requested by clients.

Throughout her career, Gloria has worked in a variety of settings, including higher education student support roles at Southern Methodist University (SMU) and Abilene Christian University (ACU), and interned at the Dyess Air Force Base Mental Health Flight. Through these experiences she developed her skill in tailoring counseling to the unique needs of each client from a variety of backgrounds. She values collaboration and often incorporates coping skills training, mindfulness, narrative techniques, and psychoeducation into sessions. Her goal is always to help clients build on their existing strengths, develop healthier patterns, and increase their sense of self-worth.

In her current role at Untying Knots Counseling, Gloria will work with children, adolescents, and adults both in-person and via telehealth. She is committed to making counseling an accessible and meaningful experience, meeting clients exactly where they are. Whether you're navigating a life transition, working through a mental health diagnosis, or simply needing someone to talk to, Gloria would be honored to walk alongside you on your healing journey.
